    The FA community shield is a traditional curtain raiser in English football, it is played between the premier league winner and FA cup winner but if the premier league winner also claim the FA cup trophy then the premier league winner
    will play against Capital one cup winner.

    It was first played in 29 august 1908 between Manchester united and Queens park Rangers at Stamford bridge , Manchester united was the FA football league champion while Queens park Rangers were the champion in Southern league as Manchester united  emerged the winner.

    •The competition was renamed in 2002 from charity shield to community shield  and Arsenal were the first winner after beating Liverpool 1-0 

    •Manchester united hold the record of the most sucessfull team in the competition by winning it 21 times (17 outright win and 4 shared)

    •The highest scoring match in the competition was Manchester United 8-4 win against Swindon in 1911

    •Manchester united is the only team to loss in 4 consecutive finals between 1998 to 2001.

    •Manchester united is the only team to have played in 6 consecutive finals win 2 times between 1996 to 2001.

    Manchester city will be making their eleventh finals appearance winning it on 4 occasions , the last time was in 2012 against their sunday opponent Chelsea  whom they beat 3-2 to win the shield,Manchester city will hope to continue from where they stop last season when they won the premier league with a record 100 point and 105 goals.

    Chelsea are playing their second censecutive final , being beaten by thier london rival Arsenal by a goal to nill and they will hope to make ammend from their last seasons mistake

    With both team having settle with 4 shield each, the match will be played t wembley stadium on sunday 5 August 2018
